The miniature Shri Sai Palki is a distinctive reflection of the processions held in Shirdi and other Sai Temples on Thursday and other important festival days. In Shirdi even now, the ‘Palki' procession starts from Samadhi Mandir, which is the eternal abode of Shri Sai, proceeds to Dwarkamai and then it moves to Chavadi. From Chavadi it returns back to Samadhi Mandir. The tradition of taking out in Shirdi has roots in the days when Shri Sai used to live there. From the year 1910 when He was living in Dwarkamai Masjid, He used to sleep in Chavadi. His visit to Chavadi was accompanied by a Palki procession with all dignitaries and paraphernalia of a procession.
Nowadays, the procession starts from Samadhi temple carrying held under a big umbrella, sacred staff and A priest carrying lighted incense in a small container leads the procession. As per tradition, the honor of holding the portrait of Shri Sai goes to members of Tatya Kote Patil's current generation family members.
